PROJECT PROFILES:
Pennsylvania Act 2
Regulations
The Department of Environmental Protection
continues to develop the proposed regulations for the implementation of Act 2,
the Land Recycling and Environmental Remediation Standards Act. Working closely
with the Scientific Advisory Board, the Department has been evaluating
approaches to many of the more complex issues raised in the comments on the
draft regulations proposed last year. The final regulations are expected to be
promulgated within the statutory timeframe of July, 1997. In the meantime, there
has been considerable activity in the Land Recycling program with many cleanups
being completed throughout the Commonwealth. This level of interest and activity
is only expected to increase once the regulations are promulgated and many of
the uncertainties of the program have been addressed.
