General and Individual Waste Permits

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) regulations for Municipal and Residual Waste include provisions for Beneficial Use of Waste Materials.  Under the Beneficial Use Permit program, a “waste” material can be shown to have properties which allow the waste to remain a useful product and not have to be disposed in a landfill.  PA DEP recognized that not all “waste” are “waste” when reused in an appropriate manner.  RT has worked with many clients in Pennsylvania to obtain Beneficial Reuse Permits for both Municipal and Residual Waste operations (over 50 permits) for C&D waste materials, asphalt plant baghouse fines and shingles, electronic wastes, recycled asphalt millings, timber waste, blast furnace slag, etc.  RT is proud to be part of our client’s waste management activities as waste sorting and processing under the Beneficial Use Permit provides a reduction in the overall amount of waste which is sent to the landfill every year.  PA DEP has a wide variety of existing Statewide General Permits.  PA DEP can also issue an individual Beneficial Use Permit is circumstances preclude the use of a General Permit.  RT experience in Beneficial Use Permitting has been instrumental in issuance of various General and Individual Beneficial Use Permits.
