Site Remediation

Erial Road, Blackwood, NJ

RT was retained by local officials to conduct environmental due diligence associated with a Green Acres Program application being submitted to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP). The site was historically utilized for residential and agricultural purposes. As such, RT collected soil samples in conjunction with a Preliminary Assessment (PA) to determine if historically applied pesticides (HAP) had impacted the property. The agricultural fields were found to be free of HAP contamination; however, samples collected in a separate area of the site, where fertilizers and equipment were historically stored, did identify dieldrin and lead above their applicable Soil Remediation Standards (SRS). Based on the identified contamination, Green Acres would require that impacted soils be remediated prior to application approval. RT was retained as the Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) to oversee and conduct the remediation of impacted soils. The extent of HAP contamination within the area of concern was delineated during the Remedial Investigation (RI) phase and ultimately addressed through excavation and offsite disposal during the Remedial Action (RA) stage. Following removal, post-excavation soil samples were collected to confirm that all dieldrin and lead impacted material had been successfully removed from the site at which time the LSRP was able to issue a Response Action Outcome (RAO) letter and close the case.
