Site Remediation
164 Maynard Street, Williamsport, PA
RT conducted comprehensive environmental due diligence for a century-old metal foundry in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, which had remained vacant for over five years in a former industrial area undergoing revitalization. Given the site's long history of industrial use, a thorough investigation was necessary to assess potential environmental concerns and support redevelopment efforts. During the due diligence process, RT identified arsenic contamination in soil and chlorinated solvent impacts in groundwater, prompting further evaluation of potential risks. The project required an in-depth assessment of multiple nearby contaminant plumes, vapor intrusion pathways, and historical site operations that could have contributed to environmental impacts. RT oversaw the installation of groundwater monitoring wells, conducted targeted soil sampling, and managed the removal of historic underground storage tanks (USTs) to mitigate potential liabilities. RT’s expertise in environmental site assessment and remediation allowed for the effective management of contamination concerns, facilitating a smooth transition for redevelopment. Through strategic planning and coordination with stakeholders, the once-blighted property was successfully redeveloped in a short timeframe, restoring its economic and community value as part of the area’s ongoing revitalization efforts.
